"Hibla" Travelling Exhibition (November 7 - December 3, 2018)
"Hibla" Travelling Textile Exhibit of the Philippine National Museum (organized by Frankfurt PhilConGen) was supported by UP alumni. Below are pictures of a fun afternoon at an Embroidery workshop of the Exhibit, including Madam Consul-General Evelyn Austria-Garcia, Laguna embroidery- and Aklan weaver- teams, Phil. National Museum staff, PhilConGen staff, Donna Ledda Hess, Frankfurt locals/visitors, a/o: Lina Evangelina Kuehlen, Beth Guinyawan, Mariflo Kantuser, Treena Relova and Victoria Villar-Demmer.
Visiting UP alumni and friends in Brandenburg (July 14, 2018)
Visiting UP alumni (Maria Diaz, Dr. Tom dela Cruz and Jeanne dela Cruz) from the Philippines graced the Bahay Kubo Open House and Pinoy gathering in Brandenburg on July 14, 2018. Members and friends of UPAA also joined the event and enjoyed a sunny afternoon of "salu-salo", music and football.
UPAA Germany e.V. General Assembly (April 14, 2018)
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) Germany e.V. held its General Assembly on April 14, 2018 at Pechsteinstrasse 31, 12309 Berlin. The event was attended by alumni members from different parts of Germany (e.g. Berlin, Brandenburg, Frankfurt and Hamburg).
Coming Soon: UPAA Germany e.V. Scholarship Grant
UPAA Germany e.V. will soon be awarding its scholarship grant this coming first semester (AY 2018-2019) to an undergraduate UP student. The initial grant will prioritize a campus and courses which have the least number of scholarship grants. The scholarship grant will be administered by the University of the Philippines. UPAA Germany e.V. is thankful to all its previous and current members and donors who made this project possible. Fifty percent of the membership fee in the organization automatically goes to the scholarship fund. Join or help us sustain this scholarship project!

Vernissage of Carlos Esguerra's photography exhibition (October 10, 2017)
"Philippine Contemplative Landscape"
Mr. Carlos Esguerra, an internationally awarded Filipino fine art photographer based in New York, U.S.A. opened his art exhibit at the Philippine Embassy in Berlin on October 10, 2017. Mr. Esguerra studied Business and Economics at the University of the Philippines and obtained his MBA from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Since 1999, he has received numerous awards and recognition in photography. He retired early from his business in 2003 to devote his time to photography. Mr. Esguerra's artwork will be exhibited until October 24, 2017 at the Venue: Embassy of the Philippines (OG, Haus Cumberland, Kurfürstendamm 194, 10707 Berlin, Germany), Mondays to Fridays, 0900-1100h and 1300h-1600h. Public viewing is possible by appointment through [email protected]
Note: After the exhibit, the artworks will be sold by Mr. Esguerra to interested individuals. A portion of the sale of the artworks will be donated to UPAA Germany's scholarship fund.

UPAA Germany e.V. General Assembly (September 16, 2017)
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) Germany e.V. held its General Assembly last September 16, 2017 at Pinoy Restaurant at Danckelmannstraße 49, Berlin. The event was attended by alumni members from different parts of Germany (i.e. Berlin, Potsdam, Brandenburg, Freiburg and Munich). The occassion was also graced by honorary member, Ambassador Melita Sta. Maria-Thomeczek.
UPAA Germany e.V. Inducts Officers for 2017 - 2019
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) Germany e.V. inducted its new set of officers last July 14, 2017 at the Embassy of the Philippines in Berlin. The induction ceremony was coupled with the appointment of Ambassador Melita Sta. Maria-Thomeczek as honorary member of the UPAA Germany e.V. The Ambassador updated the elected officers of a possible cooperation project that would benefit the UPAA Germany’s scholarship fund. The induction was also attended by guests and co-UP alumni working at the Philippine Embassy in Berlin. It was followed by the presentation lecture on the “Music in the Zarzuelas” by Dr. Helen Samson-Lauterwald. UPAA Germany donated a book of Dr. Samson-Lauterwald on the same topic to the library collection of the Philippine Embassy. The gathering ended with a dinner at the Pinoy Restaurant at Danckelmannstraße 49, Berlin.
Planning Meeting of the UPAA Germany e.V. Board Members
The newly elected Board Members held its planning meeting last June 17, 2017 in the Potsdamer Arkaden in Berlin. It was a mini-get-together for the new officers (Dr. Jingky Lozano-Kühne, Dr. Marlies Salazar, Ms. Lynda Marie Sylvester and Dr. Adhara Lazaro who came all the way from Freiburg to Berlin). Former Board Member and VP, Krisanta Caguioa-Mönnich also joined the meeting and turned-over to the current Board members the old files of the organization. The organization has several upcoming events this July, including the induction of officers, lecture/presentation and historical tours (Please see the Calendar of Events). The next General Assembly of the organization was set on September 23, 2017, 12PM at the organization's official address: Pechsteinstrasse 31, 12309 Berlin.
